B Sharp Trainee Music Educator Mentoring Programme

What does the programme involve?

This is a one-year paid mentoring programme for aspiring music educators and leaders who want to develop their career and build confidence working with children and young people aged 0–25.

Across the year, you’ll gain hands-on experience working with a variety of groups and in different settings, supported by a professional, experienced Music Leader from the B Sharp team. You’ll receive regular mentoring and guidance, helping you to develop your music leadership skills, confidence and reflective practice.

Fees

The role is for 6 hours per week over 35 weeks, for which we offer a bursary fee of £3,675.

Weekly hours will be arranged flexibly around your other commitments.
This is a freelance contract, and you will be responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.

Who should apply?

This programme is suitable for anyone interested in music leadership or music education as part of their future career, and who wants to use music to make a positive difference in young people’s lives.

You should:

• Have strong musical skills in any genre or style

• Be interested in passing on your enthusiasm and skills to the next generation

• Be open to working with young people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances, including those who may be vulnerable

• Be keen to learn, reflect and develop your leadership practice
